The Cathedral JC-2 Preamplifier - Prototype
Cathedral's implementation of preamplifier board based on John Curl's early design for Mark Levinson and later released to the "world". It includes a Burr-Brown OPA2134 based phono equalizing amplifier and National Semiconductor LME49720 based phono triple tone control, dual power toroidals, power conditioning board loaded with Rubycon capacitors x6, 1966 Mallory output coupling capacitors (.47 uF), and Dayton polypropylene 3.3 phono state coupling capacitors. Three line-level inputs and one phono input. Dual output and all gold plated RCA connectors. This is an excellent design by Mr. Curl and hardly improved since its inception. Its performance in the phono stage is outstanding and easily surpasses the sound produced by CD players.
